Animation, new media and the city will be the subjects of the City Academy, a new educational program of Malta Festival Poznań which launches on 8 October. During 4 weekends a group of 25 participants will be meeting artists, animators and researchers from Poznań and other cities of Poland, the Netherlands and Denmark. You can apply for the workshops by filling out a form until 28 September.
Each weekend of the Academy will be organised around a different subject which will be analysed during practical workshops, lectures by invited guests on the latest trends in urban developments and seminars with local artists and activists.
During the workshops Hans Venhuizen from the Netherlands will show a unique method of spatial planning, the staring point of which is discovering the culture and architecture of local inhabitants through games. The “ę” Creative Initiatives Society will teach the participants how to conduct research of the needs and problems of local communities. They will also analyse success stories and failures of urban projects.
Medialab Katowice will teach how to use digital media for research and creation of new narrations in cities. The cycle of meetings will be concluded with a meeting with a Danish artist, who employs interactive media, spatial planning and social practices when working with marginalised social groups.
